Designs and shapes have since evolved from simple and plain to detailed and ornate work of art as we know them today.

Using your tetsubin for the first time:
1. Thoroughly rinse the pot and infuser with hot water.
2. Never use cleaning products on the inside or the outside of the teapot

3. Repeat the process at least 3 times
4. After thoroughly drying teapot with cloth, invert and allow to air dry before replacing cover and infuser.
5. Avoid contact with salts and oils.
6. Do not place teapot in cold water while still warm.

If the care instructions are followed, your teapot should not rust in the inner surface has been coated with black enamel. However, in the unlikely event that your teapot should rust, your teapot can still be used.
